About Albuquerque

Albuquerque was founded in 1706 as the Spanish colonial outpost of Ranchos de Alburquerque. It is situated in the central part of New Mexico, near the Rio Grande. It is the most populous city in the state with its 2012-estimated population of 555,417, which marks it the 32nd-largest city in the U.S. It is the 53rd-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. with a 2012 estimation of 901,700.
