Meet the Staff: Ashley Shipley

Ashley Shipley

Director of Social Media & Online Marketing

When did you begin your career at Matrix Media Services?
July 16, 2007 – My birthday was 2 days later and I was amazed when I came into work and found donuts and a birthday card. I didn’t even know most of their names yet and they were wishing me happy birthday!

What was the hardest outdoor advertising concept for you to grasp when you began working in the out-of-home industry?
I had a difficult time understanding the difference between billboards, bulletins and posters. For some reason I couldn’t grasp that billboards included both bulletins and posters.

What was your most embarrassing moment at Matrix Media?
Everyone probably expects me to say the time I may or may not have had one too many drinks at a company picnic, but I’m not going to. I was merely taking one for the team by providing some entertainment.

What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given and who gave it to you?
My mom is notorious for the saying “this too shall pass” and she always tells me that when I’m upset. It helps me remember that tough situations are usually temporary.

Where did you attend college? What was your major?
I went to Ohio University (OU, Oh Yeah!) where I majored in Journalism.

What’s your caffeine of choice?
If you haven’t noticed by now we’re Team Monster here at Matrix so that’s definitely up there on the list, but my weakness is Starbucks. If I see anyone holding that white and green cup I have to run to the nearest location before I can concentrate again.

Where did you call home as a child?
Woodsfield, OH

What’s your office style?
I like vests and scarves. I’m not sure a week goes by where I don’t wear one of the two.

What’s your happy hour drink of choice?
Grey Goose and Sprite with at least 3 limes

What’s one place you’ve never been but have always wanted to visit?
Barcelona or Tuscany

What song is currently playing on you iPod?
Justin Bieber – Boyfriend (And no, I’m not embarrassed.)

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
I’m easily annoyed so I have quite a few. Laziness and excessive tardiness are probably the highest two on the list.
