Although mountains surround Chattanooga, it is the fourth-largest city in Tennessee, with a population of 171,279. Due to the scenery, the city’s nickname is the Scenic City, especially with its outdoor activities. The 1941 song, “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, was popularized by Glenn Miller and made the city internationally known. In 2012, the city created its own typeface, “Chatype”, the first custom-made typeface funded by the public.
