Located along the Flint River, this city was home to the Ojibwa tribes at the beginning the 19th century. However, it’s known today for its high crime and economic problems. According to the 2010 census, Flint is the seventh largest city in MI with a population of 102,434. Flint’s metropolitan area has a population of 425,790, making it the fourth largest metropolitan area in Michigan. Flint is popular for being the birthplace of General Motors. It’s also accredited for playing a part in the formation of the United Auto Workers during the Flint Sit-Down Strike of 1936–37.
